Privacy Policy

Last updated May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information DriverCar collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the DriverCar marketplace and website.

1. Information we collect

  • Account & contact: name, email, phone, and home address.
  • Verification (KYC): date of birth, driver's-license details, identity-verification results, and proof of an active rideshare/delivery platform account.
  • Documents: uploaded license and insurance documents and pickup/return and incident photos.
  • Payment: processed by Stripe. We receive limited details (e.g. card brand, last four, status) but do not store full card numbers.
  • Rental & location: pickup area/address, booking and rental records, and incident details including time, location, and rideshare-app status.
  • Technical: device, log, and usage data from your interactions with the Platform.

2. How we use it

To verify eligibility and identity; match drivers with vehicles; process weekly payments, deposits, and payouts; operate and support rentals and incidents; detect and prevent fraud and abuse; keep the marketplace safe; improve the product; and comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share it

  • Providers see only what they need to decide on and manage a rental — for example, your approval status and a risk summary. They do not see your raw documents or full license number.
  • Service providers who process data on our behalf: Stripe (payments & identity), Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Mapbox (maps & geocoding), and Vercel (hosting).
  • Insurers / claims handlers when needed to process an incident or claim.
  • Legal & safety: when required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then retain what we're required to keep for legal, tax, safety, and dispute-resolution purposes before deleting or de-identifying it.

5. How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit. Uploaded documents are kept in private, access-controlled storage and are never publicly readable. Access is restricted by row-level security and server-only service credentials, and exact pickup addresses are only revealed to a driver after their booking is confirmed. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

6. Your choices & rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. To make a request, email privacy@drivercar.net — we may need to verify your identity first.

7. Cookies & analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and operate the Platform. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to help us understand how the Platform is used — for example, which pages are visited — so we can improve it. This usage data is collected in aggregate, and we don't use cookies for third-party advertising. You can opt out through your browser's cookie controls or Google's opt-out browser add-on.

8. Children

The Platform is for licensed adults (18+). It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes & contact

We may update this policy; material changes will be posted with a new "last updated" date. Questions or requests: privacy@drivercar.net or our contact page.
